Sports Scripture Art for the Christian Sports Fan

I have had this sports Scripture art project on my want-to-do list for a long time – years even.
I kept waiting for a moment when I would have enough time to finish and announce all the pieces at once.
Well. That day never came.
When the World Series rolled around again, I lamented {again} that I still hadn’t created the sports Scripture Wall art idea rolling around in my head.
So.
It’s time to take action.
Here’s what I think I’ll do …
Throw out one Sports Scripture at a time.
{grin}
The first installment comes just in the nick of time for the finale of baseball season. (Update: they are all finished now – see below.)
Fun fact: Baseball is my favorite sport to watch. I have to watch – no distracting chit chat for me. You see, errant baseballs are like a magnet toward my nose. And two of said balls – TWO! – have actually broken my nose. (Fun fact #2: I broke my nose a third time by way of a pogo stick – but that’s a story for another day since I’m not doing any pogo stick Bible verses. Ha.) So, during the many years that both of my sons played baseball and my husband played softball, I flat paid attention – so I wouldn’t get hit. And that attention helped me learn a lot! I even ended up keeping the team score book. So this gal-who-had-no-brothers came a long way in the sports department. And I enjoy watching baseball to this day.
When you pay special attention to something, you can learn a lot, get deeper involved, and come to enjoy it more than you thought!
These days, I put my special attention into Bible study.
And you guessed it – I now enjoy it more than I ever dreamed I would!
So today I’m mixing the two. In hopes of spreading my love for the Word.
I have 4 Sports Bible verses for you …
1} Baseball
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NLT): For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
2} Football
2 Timothy 2:5 (NLT): And athletes cannot win the prize unless they follow the rules.
3} Basketball
1 Corinthians 16:13 (NLT): Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.
4} Soccer
Philippians 3:14 (ESV): I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
