Before I show you our new 365 Names of God journal, you may be wondering about the why behind the theme.
To illustrate the why, humor me for a moment and try this …
On a scale of 1-10, assess your reverence level toward God.
Go ahead and take a second to pick a number.
As I was evaluating this for myself, it got me pondering the type of relationship and actions that I thought would constitute a 10. Then it hit me. Did you catch it?
It dawned me that what *I think* is not what I should be looking for.
Instead I should be considering what GOD thinks would earn a 10!
So as we like to do around here – over to the Bible we go, to find examples of reverence to God.
How did people approach God in His Word?
The Lord’s Prayer begins with: “hallowed be Thy Name.”
And the letters in the New Testament give examples like this:
1 Timothy 1:17 (ESV): To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
We also find examples in both the Old and New Testament that record times when humans fell on their face in reaction to God’s presence.
Ezekiel 3:23 (ESV): So I arose and went out into the valley, and behold, the glory of the Lord stood there, like the glory that I had seen by the Chebar canal, and I fell on my face.
Luke 17:16 (ESV): and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan.
Jesus also fell on His face before God.
Matthew 26:39 (ESV): And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”
With these examples in mind, does that change your assessment?
It would not be a waste of time to ask ourselves: Do our lives reflect that we truly believe He is worthy of all honor and praise?
Psalm 34:1-3 (ESV): I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!
At all times.
The Living Bible words that verse this way: I will praise the Lord no matter what happens.
Aha, maybe that’s a 10.
1 Chronicles 16:29 (ESV): Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him! Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;
So wherever we fall on that scale of 1-10, what better way to build our reverence level – and therefore our faith level – than by writing a different name of God verse every day.
Imagine the shift that would take place in your heart. Imagine a closer relationship with Jesus!
There it is – the why.
365 Names of God Scripture Journal
Like our other Scripture writing journals, this journal is all Bible, but this time our reflecting will be singular: God alone.
There will be no *I think.* Don’t get me wrong, our thoughts have their place – and I have plenty of thoughts. {grin} But this time we want our reverence of God to swell to a whole new level. And that can only come from internalizing His thoughts.
So we will be taking a look at 365 unique Names of God recorded in the Bible.
Just in case you are wondering, there are more than 365, but we have carefully curated for you selections from Genesis to Revelation so that we will write the whole counsel of God on our hearts.
It’s hard to understand how God can be both friend and Judge at the same time, but He is. This journal will guide you through 365 verses that will shed light on His many facets.
What’s inside our 365 Names of God Scripture journal?
This journal will guide you through 365 Bible passages where either God has called Himself a specific name or where someone else has mentioned a name of God.
You will then be directed to write one or two specific verses – one for each day of the year – and circle the names of God.
Then you’ll list any more names or characteristics of God that you might have found throughout that day’s reading.
Last, but most importantly, you will be encouraged to worship and praise God for who He is. This will not only help develop a habit of “at all times,” but it will develop that heart-shift we so desire – that new level of reverence and unswerving faith in our holy God.
Here’s an example:
For this Bible study you will be searching God’s Word to learn more about Him and in turn grow closer to Him.
You’ll be on the hunt for detailed information about who God is – according to Him!
If you’ve ever felt like you didn’t really understand God, this Bible study journal will collect 365 facts about Him all in one book. Not only will that grow your understanding of Him, but more importantly, it will bind your heart to His as your respect and honor intensifies for Him.
Proverbs 9:10 (CSB): The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
What’s on the outside of the journal?
